Finding Encouragement in Loneliness

Encouragement is a tool,

We often cannot shake

It is a process we must muster

That dark loneliness,

comes and goes.

It knows me by name,

and shames me to my room.

I've told it before I wanted to get out of bed,

and one day, it listened.

It came in the shape of a letter,

to my mother.

It told me, encouraged me,

I could write something with meaning

It told me to pick up a pen,

and splatter my thoughts

It told me I shouldn't find shame,

in writing in my bed.

I never found shame, in the pen that gave me encouragement

I wrote her a letter and told her I loved her

I told her..."loneliness isn't a curse. It's how I found my encouragement"
